Bechtel Park offers one of the nicest natural settings in Waterloo. The fully fenced dog park sits among mature trees, giving it more of a forest trail feel than a traditional grass enclosure. It’s especially popular with owners who enjoy walking while their dogs explore.

Dog parks are wonderful places for exercise and socialization, but a little preparation goes a long way.

Before heading out, we recommend:

• ✔ Keep vaccinations up to date, especially rabies and core vaccines.

• ✔ Bring fresh water and a portable bowl.

• ✔ Avoid visiting if your dog is sick or recovering from surgery.

• ✔ Skip the park if your dog is in heat or showing signs of aggression.

• ✔ Watch for overheating during hot summer days.

• ✔ Check paws for cuts, burrs, or torn nails after your visit.
